Mohamed ElBaradei, holder of two New York University School of Law degrees and director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, last week won the 2005 Nobel Peace Prize, which he shares with the agency that he heads. ElBaradie received his master of laws degree from the N.Y.U. School of Law in 1971 and his doctor of jurisprudence degree from the law school in 1974. In 2004, the university also bestowed an honorary doctor of laws on ElBaradie. The I.A.E.A., a United Nations affiliate, is dedicated to promoting peaceful use of atomic energy and to discouraging the development of atomic weapons. N.Y.U. has a total of 11 Nobel Prize winners among its alumni and faculty.
