NYPD rescues pit bull, ASPCA puts her up for adoption

A 3-year-old pit bull was rescued from a filthy Bronx apartment, where she’d been alone without food or water for several days. Four months later, she’s ready to find a loving home.

Astley was first found when police went to check on a call about a foul-smelling odor coming from an apartment in the Belmont area in October. When they entered the Prospect Avenue apartment, they were greeted with a filthy home that hadn’t been occupied in at least three days, police said.

Astley was locked inside a backroom, without food or water to keep her going, police said.
