Crime seems to be leaving the city’s subway stations this year.
A report by the NYPD released during yesterday’s board meeting found that year to date reported major felonies per day is at 6.92, nearly a point less than during the same period last year.
Several major crime categories, including robbery and grand larceny saw decreases between 2012 and 2013. Joseph Fox, the police’s Chief of Transit told the board that it had been making increased efforts to stop criminals in subway cars and stations.
The board also announced increased service for the No. 2, 3, 4, 5, E, F and L lines this summer. The board said those lines have seen increased demand.
