Chelsea subway death
A northbound No. 3 train struck and killed a man who entered the tracks in the 23rd St. station of the Seventh Ave. line at 6:12 p.m. Sun. May 23, police said. The victim, declared dead at the scene, was described only as Hispanic and 39 years old. Police said no criminality was suspected. News reports said the man was mentally retarded and had walked out of a nearby group residence and sat down on the tracks. He reportedly loved subway trains.
Police say non to stunt
Police arrested a man who was climbing the cables on the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge at about 10:40 a.m. Tues. May 18 and charged him with criminal trespass and reckless endangerment. The suspect identified himself as Raymond Gros, 41, and said he was a skydiver and stuntman from France. Police said the suspect was not wearing any skydiving harness when arrested and his identity has not yet been verified.
Youth robbed
A 15-year-old student at Chelsea Vocational High School, at 131 Sixth Ave. near Broome St., told police that a teenager, described only as a black Hispanic youth, threatened him outside the school at 1 p.m. on Fri. May 14. The victim said he gave the thief $50 “because he feared for his life,” according to police.
