Arrest at ATM

A detective going home after a day’s work at the 13th Police Precinct at 11 p.m. Sun. May 30 spotted a man answering the description of a suspect in an ATM robbery earlier that day, police said. Det. Brian Buell saw the suspect enter the ATM lobby of the Chase branch at 71 W. 23rd St. and went in just after a woman came out in tears saying she was robbed. Buell arrested Martin Hobbs, 40, who was identified by the victim, police said.

DOA at Asser Levy

Police responding to a report at 9 a.m. Mon. May 31 about a man who seemed to have been asleep for several hours on a bench in Asser Levy Park on E. 23rd St. found the unidentified homeless man dead, apparently of natural causes.

Find fetus near school

A five-month fetus was found at 5:30 a.m. Thurs. May 27 on a walkway behind P.S. 140 between Stanton and Rivington Sts., police said. The Medical Examiner’s office was investigating the case. There was no information on the sex of the fetus.

Pizza stand fracas

An argument at a pizza stand at 461 Broadway near Grand St. at 3:30 p.m. Fri., May 18 turned violent, said police, who arrested Joaquin Rosales, 50, and charged him with assault for hitting his adversary in the arm with a stick.

Pedestrian killed on Bowery

Wynee Wong, 21, of Pearl St., who had graduated the week before from Bucknell University, was struck and killed by a private sanitation truck on Thurs. May 27 as she was crossing the Bowery at Bayard St., a block south of Canal St. The truck was turning onto Bowery from Bayard St. and stopped after the accident, police said. There was no arrest.

Bicyclist injured on Canal

A car going westbound on Canal St. struck and seriously injured Sue Chan, 39, as she was riding her bicycle on Lafayette St. at 10 p.m. Sun. May 30, police said. Chan was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital where her condition on Tues. June 1 remained critical.

Breaks up club

A man who entered NV, the dance club at 304 Hudson St. at Spring St. at 6:30 p.m. Wed. May 26, began to remove liquor bottles from behind the bar, police said. He broke one of the bottles and threatened club security guards, who finally arrested him and held him for police. The suspect, Lucito Medina, 43, was charged with burglary and menacing.

Fight on Canal

The brother of a woman who was arguing with a man on Monday afternoon May 21 at the corner of Canal and Mercer Sts. told police that his sister’s adversary hit him in the face when he tried to intervene. The victim’s nose was badly injured, police said.

Suitcase snatched

A patron of a cafe at 527 Broadway near Spring St. found that her suitcase, which she had placed at the side of her table, was missing at about 5:30 p.m. Fri. May 11, police said.
