A resident of 77 Columbia St. in the Samuel Gompers Houses, Edward Young Fondo, 62, jumped to his death at 6:35 p.m. Sun. Jan 29, police said.
Arrest burglar
Detectives from the 13th Police Precinct arrested David Gardner, 48, of Manhattan on Wed. Jan. 25 for breaking into an office at 184 Fifth Ave. near 22nd St., police said.
Trio tries robbery
Three men attacked a woman walking on Washington St. near Bethune St. on Sunday night Jan. 29 and attempted to rob her, police said. After one of the muggers knocked the victim to the ground and another started to take her bag, she began screaming and one of her attackers said, “Let’s get out of here.” The trio fled west on foot on Bethune St.
