Seek sex-assault suspect Detectives from the Manhattan Special Victims Squad are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect identified in the above sketch, who is wanted for the commission of a rape. According to police, on Thurs., Nov. 20, at 4:10 a.m., the victim, a female Asian, 68, was walking on Norfolk St. between Houston and Stanton Sts. when she was grabbed from behind by an unidentified male Hispanic in his 20s. The man forced her behind a van and sexually assaulted her before fleeing. According to witnesses, the woman had been collecting bottles before she was assaulted. Police described the suspect as 5 feet 4 inches or 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing about 150 pounds. Slashes beau’s neck Police responding to a 1 a.m. Sun., Nov. 30, call from an East Village bar found a Freeport, L.I., man, 22, stabbed in the neck, and arrested his girlfriend, Victoria Lee, 22, a Freeport resident and student at Boston University, in connection with the incident.
Police said the suspect, identified in the media as the daughter of a retired New York Police Department officer, became enraged at the victim, Joshua Clarke, because he was flirting with another woman in Sutra, at 16 First Ave. Lee slapped him in the face twice and then smashed a glass over his head and stabbed him in the neck with a shard of glass, severing an artery, according to the charges.
A bouncer was able to staunch the spurting wound and Clarke was taken to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition. Sutra employees also restrained Lee until police arrested her.
Clarke’s mother turned up later at the Ninth Precinct and told police that her son, a recent graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, would not press charges because he intended to marry Lee, his high school sweetheart.
Lee, charged with first- and second-degree assault, was freed on a $6,000 bond pending a Dec. 29 court appearance.
Purse perp Police arrested Nin Ping, 27, for grabbing a woman’s handbag on Thanksgiving night after following her into the vestibule of her building at 241 E. Second St. A witness who saw the incident chased the suspect, caught him and held him for police, according to a spokesperson for the Manhattan district attorney. Ping, of 227 Bowery, was charged with third-degree robbery, second-degree burglary and grand larceny.
Trio mugs woman Two men and a woman mugged a 62-year-old woman at 10:30 a.m. Tues., Nov. 25, on the southwest corner of Madison and Pike Sts. as the victim was walking to a nearby supermarket, police said. The three robbers, described only as Hispanic, grabbed the woman around the neck, removed her bag and fled in an unknown direction, police said.
Robbed at deli Two muggers knocked a man down and stole his cash at 1:15 a.m. Sat., Nov. 22, outside a deli at W. 14th St. and Eighth Ave. just after the victim withdrew money from the store A.T.M., police said. The thieves took $120 and a bank card from the victim, 42, and fled.
Monkey business A patron of the Brass Monkey, on Little W. 12th St. in the Gansevoort Market District, was given a desk-appearance ticket for assault after he was ejected from the place at 2:15 a.m. Sun., Nov. 23, police said. Jason Velez, 31, tried to force his way back into the bar and jammed his thumb into the left eye of a man who blocked his way, police said. He was charged with misdemeanor assault. The victim, 35, refused medical attention.
Bad cab ride A Brooklyn man told police he got into a cab with a stranger in front of The Inn, at 7 Ninth Ave., at 4 a.m. Sat., Nov. 15, and took it to Williamsburg where the victim presented his A.T.M. card to pay the fare. The stranger grabbed the card and fled. The victim told police he was drunk at the time and that four unauthorized charges were made on the card.
BlackBerry-ectomy A Brooklyn woman who works at St. Vincent’s Hospital left her bag under her desk while she stepped out of the office without locking the door for a few minutes at 10 a.m. Wed., Nov. 5, and returned to find the bag gone. She found it in another office, but her BlackBerry, credit cards and $110 in cash were missing. About $400 in unauthorized charges were made on the card, police said.
Shoplifts watch A store detective at Filene’s Basement, 40 E. 14th St., spotted a man walking out of the place at 1:40 p.m. Mon., Nov. 24, with a $20 watch in his hand that he hadn’t paid for, police said. The suspect, Guy Fontana, 41, was charged with burglary rather than larceny because he had signed a “no trespass” agreement with Filene’s after an arrest there on March 29, police said.
Cars stolen A Village man who parked his car on Thompson St. between Washington Square South and W. Third St. at 3:30 p.m. Thurs., Nov. 20, received a call from a Police Department auto larceny detective at 10:30 p.m. Sat., Nov. 22, that a suspect driving his car had just been arrested in Brooklyn. It was the first time the victim knew his car, a 1992 Plymouth minivan, had been stolen.
