A 911 call led police to the body of Roderick Goodwin, 28, on Mon., May 18. Injuries were found to the back of his head after police found the New Jersey resident under a mattress just after 4 p.m. that day. PETIT LARCENY: Not her bicycle anymore

An 18-year-old purportedly got a strange offer from a thief on Sat., May 16 when she emerged from shopping at a Whole Foods located at 250 Seventh Ave. She found at about 4 p.m. that her red Bria bicycle had been replaced by a blue Citi Bike. A police report did not state what became of the latter bike, but the $600 Bria disappeared with little trace except for surveillance footage in front of the supermarket.

A man evidently did not like where a cab took him on Sun., May 17. Police say that he punched the driver multiple times just before 1 a.m. that morning after not taking kindly to where he was dropped off (near the north east corner of 10th Ave. & W. 15th St.). The 44-year-old victim suffered a swollen face, cuts and plenty of bruises. A witness followed the 23-year-old attacker until police arrived and arrested the man for misdemeanor assault.

IDENTITY THEFT: Roommates find they owe Barney’s $24k

Two residents of an apartment on the 300 block of W. 17th St. reported to police last week that someone went on a luxury shopping spree in their names. A 28-year-old man told police that a bill arrived on May 12 from Barney’s stating that he had an outstanding balance of $19,923.21 on a store credit card for which he never applied. The bill was addressed to his name and his parents’ address. The next day, his 31-year-old roommate reported that she received a store credit card bill totaling $2,475.17. She didn’t apply for such a credit line, according to a police report. This time though, the perpetrator got the current address correct. The purchases appeared to be made on April 12 and April 30. No arrests have been made in connection to the felony identity thefts.
