Assault with cones from would-be ‘Mad Men’
Traffic cones are not usually thought of as weapons, but two teens used them in a dispute with a man, 58, in the Seaport on Thurs., Mar. 26, police say.

It is unclear what started the verbal altercation between the teenage males — one 14, one 16 — and the New Jersey man at around 4 p.m. in front of 55 Fulton St., police say. It escalated and the two teens grabbed the traffic cones and threw them at the man, causing lacerations to his face.

Both teens were arrested. One is from Queens, the other from the Lower East Side, and both attend the Manhattan Early College School for Advertising, which is in the Seaport at 411 Pearl St. — not far from where the incident took place.

Cross-dressing muggers
Take one inebriated man, early morning hours and two men “impersonating females” — and you get one mugging gone awry in the Financial District.

An inebriated man, 28, was buying some food at a bodega at 150 Water St. at 4:45 a.m. on Sat., Mar. 28, police say. The man told police that two men “impersonating females” attempted to seduce him. The two men grabbed the intoxicated man’s wallet and made a break for it, running out of the grocery store and dropping the wallet in their rush to escape.

The store’s male employee, 33, corroborated the man’s story, telling police that he noticed a struggle. The man, who lives in the Seaport, recovered his wallet.

Thief goes on cab spree
A thief who snatched a woman’s wallet in the Financial District on Sat., Mar. 21, wasted no time — utilizing her credit cards to pay for four taxi rides that night, police say.

The 45-year-old woman who lives in Midtown told police that she left her purse unattended at O’Hara’s, a pub at 120 Cedar St. at 6:15 p.m., police say. The next morning, she realized that her wallet, which also had $125 in it, was gone and discovered the cab charges on her credit cards.

A.T.M. snatch
It is everyone’s worst nightmare: you go inside a bank to withdraw money from an A.T.M. and someone grabs it right out of your hand when you leave.

This happened to a woman, 55, on Wed., Mar. 25 at 4 p.m., police say. The thief got away with $400.

The Brooklyn woman told police that she had gone into a Bank of America at 130 Fulton St. in the Financial District to take out money and noticed someone in the vestibule with her. After she took out the $400, and went out into the street, that person snatched the money out of her hand and fled, police say. Police did not release a description of the suspect.

Camera equipment stolen
A Brooklyn woman, 33, was dining in Soho on Fri., Mar. 27 and left her camera equipment, worth $3,014, on the backseat of her car. When she came back to grab the bag, she found her back passenger window smashed and her equipment gone, police say.

The woman parked her red 2009 Nissan S.U.V. in front of 3 Wooster St. at 11 p.m. and noticed the break-in just after midnight.

Caught in Soho
A male teen, 17, attempted to steal three jackets, valued at $2,292, from the Bape (A Bathing Ape) store at 91 Greene St. in Soho on Thurs., Mar. 26. He didn’t succeed, getting arrested the same day, police say.

The teen took the jackets off the sales rack and jetted from the store a little after 12:30 p.m. He was found with the coats still on him, police say, and then he resisted arrest, trying to escape by running away and then refusing to be handcuffed by placing his arms underneath him. The jackets were recovered.

Pushy shoplifter
Things ended badly when a T.J. Maxx employee tried to block the exit of a shoplifter at the store’s 14 Wall St. location on Tues., Mar. 24, police say.

The female employee, 23, confronted the thief when he or she took items from the display at 2:30 p.m. and then started to leave the store. The suspect pushed the Brooklyn woman, causing her to fall on the escalator. She told police that she had lower back pain.

Police did not release description of the suspect nor the items stolen.
