The NYPD is investigating the death of an infant in Brooklyn on Wednesday morning.
According to police, at 9 a.m. on Nov. 17 police responded to a 911 call regarding an infant in need of help at the Van Dyke Houses, located at 429 Dumont Avenue. Upon their arrival, officers were informed that 4-month-old Cairo Stenson had been taken to Brookdale Hospital by private means as he was unconscious and unresponsive.
The baby was pronounced dead at the hospital. At this time, it is not clear what occurred prior to being taken to the hospital, however the NYPD confirmed that there were no obvious signs of trauma. The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
A spokesperson for the NYPD stated that Stenson had been placed into foster care a month ago and was under the care of a foster mother.
The investigation remains ongoing.
