To the editor:
Re “BID plan for SoHo’s Broadway corridor is now better” (Talking Point, July 27)

Margaret Chin misrepresents her constituents. I was at her town hall meeting. The [main] concerns voiced by SoHo residents were not ‘assessments, budget and transparency.’ SoHo residents will not be placated by cosmetic changes to this BID. Our concerns are fundamental: we reject the BID categorically because we do not believe in privatizing public services and because by inserting itself between us and our public institutions the BID abridges our democratic rights. Scrap it.
