Two Starbucks in Lower Manhattan will soon be serving beer and wine.
At 55 Broad St. and 1 Battery Park Plaza, wine and beer will be served from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Small plates, possibly bacon-wrapped dates and truffle mac and cheese, will also be offered.
Representatives for the chain went before Community Board 1’s Financial District Committee on Wed., Sept. 2 for approval of their license.
“I thought that was only in Brooklyn, where the hipsters live,” quipped Pat Moore, committee member, before the reps spoke.
Moore was partially right — the two locations already serving libations are in Williamsburg and at Macy’s.
One rep said that Starbucks tries to emphasize local products, there’s Brooklyn beer at the Williamsburg location, but no word yet on any special Downtown offerings.
