On Tuesday, January 13th, the McBurney YMCA hosted the championship game for the adult basketball league. The league started in October with nine teams and ended on Tuesday evening with only two facing off in the championship game. Local high school teens provided the entertainment during half time by putting on a dance show for the teams and spectators. All in all, over 110 men participated in the league at the McBurney YMCA.
The new season of the McBurney YMCA adult basketball league kicks off on Tuesday, January 27. Games will be played on Tuesday nights from 6:30 – 10:00 pm concluding on April 12, 2004. The nine-week season includes playoffs and a championship game. The first place team will receive trophies, and MVP’s will receive special awards!
Games take place in the McBurney YMCA Gymnasium, located at 125 West 14th Street (between 6th and 7th Avenues). The fee for non-members is $95.00 (members is $75.00). Registration must take place at the McBurney YMCA Member Services Desk. Individuals must have a photo I.D. to register for the league and can sign up as a team or an individual. Teams must have at least five players and a maximum of ten players per roster. The league is limited to the first nine teams. Be sure to register early – teams fill up fast.
