Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village are presenting classic movies outdoors on the Stuyvesant Town Oval on a giant, 30-foot-by-50-foot screen this Wednesday and Thursday.
On Wed., Sept. 17, at 7 p.m., the feature film is “His Girl Friday” (1940), starring Cary Grant and Rosalind Russell, about a newspaper editor who tries every trick in the book to keep his former wife from marrying another man.
On Thurs., Sept. 18, at 7 p.m., the attraction will be Ted Wilde’s “Speedy” (1928), starring Harold Lloyd, with live accompaniment by the Alloy Orchestra. The movie’s far-ranging plot involves Coney Island, Babe Ruth and an early community-organizing effort.
The Stuyvesant Town Oval is located between 16th and 18th Sts., east of First Ave., in the middle of the Stuyvesant Town complex.
The public screenings are programmed by the Film Society of Lincoln Center, sponsored by Verizon and hosted by the management of Peter Cooper Village and Stuyvesant Town.
A curator from the Film Society of Lincoln Center will briefly give details about each movie prior to the start of the screening.
