Synagogue in limbo

Following the Jan. 22 collapse of the First Roumanian-American Congregation synagogue’s roof on the Lower East Side, workers have removed much of the synagogue’s front facade.

It’s not clear whether the congregation plans to keep and restore the 1850s building or possibly build something new on the spot at Rivington and Ludlow Sts.
