This year’s Family Outdoor Street Fair will take place on Saturday, May 8, from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., along Greenwich St. between Duane and Beach Sts. The fair includes puppeteers, storytellers, dancers, stilt walkers, face painters and clowns. Duane St. will be transformed into KIDZTOWN USA, with the main stage featuring a line up of puppets shows and kid-friendly variety shows.

The festival will see a mix of cultural events, including the incredible South Africa Pavilion where families will come face to face with a baby lion, leopard, giraffe and zebra, all of which are accompanied by a wildlife expert to answer any questions. There will also be interactive activities such as bead-and-wire art and designing a giant mural. South African food will also be available and a Zulu dance troupe will perform.

The “House of Stars” at Harrison and Greenwich Sts. is offering the chance for children make customized t-shirts, photo stickers and their own “credentials” – all free. There will be comfort stations on Duane St. with baby changing stations and a seating area.

The Scholastic “Everything Fun For Kids” tent will have story telling, face painting and special appearances by kids favorite characters, Clifford the Big Red Dog and Ms. Frizzle from the Magic School bus. At the Scholastic store is the “Klutz Crafting Tent,” for kids of all ages. Here the children will have the chance to make tissue flowers and paper airplanes along with other crafts. As a special bonus, Scholastic kid reporters, ages 10-14 will be covering the event for the Scholastic News.

The street fair will also include large, colorful murals and banners created by children from Tribeca schools.

All in all……..a day not to be missed!
