Today you are no longer a puppy

Janet Fischer, left, and her dog Sonora celebrated Sonora’s 13th birthday – called her “Bark-Mitzvah” – at the Henry Street Settlement with Manuela Castillo and her dog Joy Nell, who is almost 13 herself. Fischer is the chief administrator for senior services at the Settlement, and she invited seniors, their dogs and dog lovers to celebrate with her. There was a birthday cake for the two-legged guests, and bags of doggie treats for the four-legged ones.
