Yankees, Mets to make deals?

Will the Yankees and Mets rosters look any differently after Wednesday’s trade deadline has passed? The Bronx Bombers are reportedly interested in acquiring Phillies infielder Michael Young and dealing pitchers Phil Hughes and Joba Chamberlain. The Mets, meanwhile, might entertain offers for outfielder Marlon Byrd and closer Bobby Parnell.

Christine Quinn will attend a candlelight vigil for Trayvon Martin in Harlem on Wednesday evening; Anthony Weiner will address Rockaway residents; and John Catsimatidis attends an invitation-only “friendraiser,” at the Four Seasons Restaurant.

City diabetes stats to be released

The city on Wednesday will release data tracking the rise in diabetes locally since 2002. City Health Commissioner Thomas Farley and Montefiore Medical Center endocrinologist Dr. Joel Zonszein will participate in a roundtable discussion, moderated by CNN’s Sanjay Gupta, at 1:15 p.m. in SoHo to discuss the results. Expect the city’s proposed ban on large sugary drinks, which lost its second court battle Tuesday, to be a top of discussion. Mayor Michael Bloomberg has vowed to take the soda case to the state’s highest court.

Pop stars hit Jersey

Two of the biggest names in pop will perform sold-out shows about 12 miles apart from each other in New Jersey on Wednesday night. Beyonce is playing at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, while Justin Bieber performs at the Prudential Center in Newark. (Hide those mop buckets, janitors!)

Fiddler in the park

The city parks department’s “Movies Under the Stars” series will screen the 1971 musical "Fiddler on the Roof" at Pier I in Riverside Park South. The free showing begins at 8:30 p.m.
