ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING RULES ARE IN EFFECT ALL WEEK

Lower Manhattan can expect a change in traffic patterns as tolls jump to $15 round-trip cash at the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel and the Queens Midtown Tunnel; the round-trip E-ZPass rate will be $10.66. One-way cash tolls to Staten Island at the Verrazano Bridge will go up to $15.

So here’s what will happen: Drivers will avoid the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel and switch to the Brooklyn Bridge affecting Park Row, Chambers St., and the area around City Hall. Truckers facing as high as an $80 fare to cross the Verrazano Bridge will head over to the Manhattan Bridge where they can get to New Jersey for free. This means Canal St. will be overloaded with even more trucks – hard as that is to believe. Drivers seeking to avoid the tolls at the Queens Midtown Tunnel will switch to the Williamsburg Bridge, jamming Delancey, Kenmare, and Broome Sts.

Tolls will also increase at five other bridges: Henry Hudson, RFK, Throgs Neck, and the Rockaway bridges. Also, subway fare will jump a quarter to $2.50.

All Manhattan-bound lanes of the Brooklyn Bridge will close overnight 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Wednesday through Friday, 12:01 a.m. to 7 a.m. Saturday, 12:01 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday, and overnight 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Tuesday.

At the Lincoln Tunnel, all lanes of the New Jersey-bound helix (the spiral approach road to the tunnel) will close 11:59 p.m. Wednesday to 4:30 a.m. Thursday. All lanes of the Manhattan-bound helix will close 10:30 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday.

Construction will completely close Gouverneur La. between Front and South Sts. 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Crane installation will fully close Leonard St. between West Broadway and Church St. 6 a.m. Saturday through 9 p.m. Sunday.

The ongoing closure of the north lane of Chambers St. between Greenwich St. and Broadway will extend to Elk St. all day Monday and Tuesday. Chambers St. will fully close between W. Broadway and Greenwich St. 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday. At all other times, Chambers St. runs one-way westbound, with eastbound M22 buses rerouted to Warren St.
