For the North tube detour, exit onto South St., continue on to Whitehall St., turn left onto State St., and then turn left onto Battery Pl. to West St. Saturday morning the south tube will close 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. Use the South tube detour during that time.

From the mailbag:

Dear Transit Sam,

I just got my new registration sticker from the DMV for my windshield and I was wondering, am I allowed to put the registration sticker below the inspection sticker? I’d like to keep it as out of view as possible while I’m driving to minimize distractions.

Saul, Manhattan

Dear Saul,

Assuming you are in the driver’s seat while applying the sticker, you must place the registration sticker to the right of the inspection sticker, according to Title 15, Section 17.4 (d) of the Codes, Rules, and Regulations of New York. You might have a personal preference, but this is the law. Plenty of Transit Sam readers in the past have received tickets for “misplaced registration sticker.” Put the sticker to the right and it’s an easy headache to avoid!
