A two-day symposium will look back on the events of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and look forward to the future of the city.

On Sept. 9-10, VOICES Center for Resilience will host its 20th Anniversary Remembrance Symposium. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days at the New York Marriott Downtown, located at 85 West Street, and online.

The theme of this year’s symposium is Remembrance, Reflection and Resilience. Through presentations, the leaders of the symposium will reflect on the events that took place during the infamous attacks and the journey New York City took to rebuild afterwards. The symposium will also look to the future and discuss the accomplishments over the past 20 years and lessons learned.

Topics of the symposium will include trauma and resilience, journalism and national security, the VCF and compensation programs, pending legal issues and personal reflections from all. A full list of speakers is available on the VOICES Center website.

All attendees who opt to join in person will have to show proof of vaccination upon arrival. All state mandates concerning masks will be followed over the course of the event by guests and presenters.

The event is free to the public but registration is required. For more information and a full lineup of events, visit www.voicescenter.org
