Celebrate the holidays at the Battery Park City Parks Conservancy’s annual tree lighting in South Cove, with caroling by the a capella group, The Accidentals. A jolly guest is expected to visit. Please bring a new, unwrapped gift or clothing for the many children and teens living in N.Y.C. shelters. Gifts will be wrapped and distributed by Stockings with Care.

IMAGINATION ISLANDS: A MAP-MAKING WORKSHOP

Mystical beasts, magical forests, lost treasure and more can be found in this island map-making workshop. Children will create their own maps with poetic descriptions of distant unexplored islands for those daring enough to venture there. Led by Poets House children’s room director Mike Romanos.

Santa is the guest of honor at the annual Christmas party. Riding to the park in style – sometimes by pedicab, sometimes peddled by an oversized elf in an Adeline Adeline bike – Santa takes requests from children on his throne at the gazebo. Consider supporting a local children’s organization (to be named) and bring an unwrapped gift.

SANTA’S WINTER WORKSHOP

Conrad New York and Children’s Museum of the Arts New York will host the second-annual Santa’s Winter Workshop at the hotel. The afternoon will feature a variety of activities for the entire family to enjoy including: Pictures with Santa and ornament decorating, Mr. Snowman hot chocolate bar where guests can create their own hot chocolate using fun topping like candy canes, crystallized ginger, crushed ginger bread crumbs and more, and tea sandwiches, cookies and holiday treats.

NEW YORK CITY FIRE MUSEUM SANTA RESCUE HOLIDAY EVENT

An F.D.N.Y. ladder truck will bravely rescue Santa from his perilous perch on top of the New York City Fire Museum. Once safely inside, Santa will take gift requests and pose for photos until 2 pm. Tickets can be purchased online or by phone 212-691-1303.

BLOCK PARTY! LINOLEUM BLOCK PRINTING WORKSHOP

The Museum of Jewish Heritage – A Living Memorial to the Holocaust and PJ Library will present Story Time, a free, drop-in story hour series. They will present warm, whimsical, and wonderful tales and songs about traditions, holidays, and families. While enjoying a snack and juice, children will listen to a professional storyteller read from some of the most beloved books selected by PJ Library.
