Bronx mother and son found dead inside home during wellness check: NYPD

Detectives in the Bronx are investigating the tragic discovery of a mother and her 8-year-old child who were found dead inside a residence Friday night.

The horrific find occurred at about 8:26 p.m. on April 18, when officers from the 47th Precinct were called to a home on the 600 block of East 231st Street in Wakefield.

Upon arriving at the scene, cops found a 38-year-old woman and an 8-year-old boy inside the location unconscious and unresponsive.

Responding EMS units pronounced them dead at the scene. It is not yet known how they died; their bodies were transferred to the Medical Examiner’s office for autopsies to determine the cause of their deaths.

Meanwhile, police investigating the scene found a 4-year-old girl at the location alive and seemingly unharmed. EMS brought her to Montefiore Medical Center for a medical evaluation; she was listed in stable condition. 

Police have not yet released the identities of the deceased, pending family notification. 

No arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation, police said.
