A young woman was killed and another was seriously injured in a double stabbing outside a Brooklyn bodega early on Sunday morning, police reported.
Detectives are looking for two male suspects who apparently attacked both victims after unsuccessfully trying to strike up a conversation with them, which led to a dispute, sources familiar with the investigation said.
Law enforcement sources said the violence erupted at about 2:20 a.m. on March 17 near 77 4th Ave., at St. Mark’s Place, in Park Slope.
Officers from the 78th Precinct, in responding to a 911 call regarding an assault in progress, found both victims, aged 19, wounded at the location. The women were reportedly twin sisters who had been hanging out together at the time they were attacked, sources familiar with the case said.
One woman, Samyia Spain, 19, of Nevins Street in Gowanus, suffered a stab wound to her chest, while another had been stabbed in the arm, police reported.
EMS rushed both victims to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where Spain was pronounced dead a short time later. The other 19-year-old woman, meanwhile, was listed in stable condition.
So far, no arrests have been made in the ongoing investigation. Police sources said both male suspects wore blue and red sweatshirts, black pants and masks on their faces.

The 78th Precinct had one reported homicide so far in 2024 through March 10, according to the most recent CompStat report. Felony assaults were also down 33.3% year-to-date.
