Police in Brooklyn continue to investigate a deadly collision on Sunday evening that cost a delivery worker his life.

Law enforcement sources said the crash occurred at about 7:26 p.m. on May 30 near the corner of Atlantic and Clermont Avenues in Prospect Heights.

According to authorities, the victim, a 38-year-old man, rode a 2020 Kymco scooter eastbound along Atlantic Avenue and attempted to enter the left turn bay at the intersection when he suddenly lost control on the rain-slick street.

Police said the worker was hurled from his ride after the scooter smacked into the center median. Seconds later, authorities said, the worker was struck by a driver operating a 2007 Volvo traveling westbound along Atlantic Avenue.

The Volvo driver stopped their ride and remained at the scene, the NYPD reported.

Officers from the 88th Precinct responded to the scene along with EMS units who pronounced the delivery worker dead. Police have withheld the man’s identity, pending family notification.

“This is insane, I saw the paramedics check for a pulse, and the man wasn’t moving,” said one witness, Clare Benjamin. “He was motionless. I will pray for him.”

No charges have been filed against the Volvo driver, police reported.

The case was presented to the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad for further examination.
