Cops in Lower Manhattan are on the hunt for the subway slashing suspect who sliced a man over a seat on board a train earlier this month.
On Wednesday morning, the NYPD released an image of the attacker wanted for the assault near the Fulton Street station on the A line at about 5:48 a.m. on Feb. 4.
According to police, the suspect engaged the victim, a 33-year-old man, in an argument over seating while they rode a Brooklyn-bound A train.
The beef turned bloody, cops said, when the perpetrator pulled out a sharp object and slashed the victim across his left hand. Following the attack, the slasher fled the scene in an unknown direction.
The incident was reported to the 1st Precinct and NYPD Transit District 2. EMS treated the victim at the scene for his injuries.
Police described the suspect as a man with a light complexion, a medium build, and facial hair. He was last seen wearing a black facemask, a red shirt and a black jacket.
Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA). You can also submit tips online at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, or on X (formerly Twitter) @NYPDTips. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
The assault occurred on the heels of an NYPD report that found transit crime had plummeted throughout the subway system by 36% year-over-year in January.
