A man that was found shot in the head on a Brooklyn street Tuesday afternoon may have been a suicide, police officials say.

The man was not immediately identified, though witnesses say he was in his 20’s. People who live on the street could not identify the man.

The incident was reported at 3:20 p.m. in front of 545 Jerome Street in East New York, Brooklyn. Officers from the 75th Precinct found the man sprawled on the sidewalk in front of that location and apparently found a firearm next to him, leading police to believe it may be a suicide.

The victim was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital, but was later pronounced dead on arrival.

Police canvassed the area around the street where he was found, attempting to locate witnesses that could verify the account or locate anyone that was with him.
