After a 45-10 drubbing of the Washington Commanders on Thanksgiving, the Dallas Cowboys are set to square off against another team that was at the hands of a big loss last Thursday, the Seattle Seahawks.

Turkey Day could not have gone more differently for these two teams, each vying for playoff position. The Cowboys currently sit at 8-3 in the first Wild Card spot and two games behind their rival Philadelphia Eagles for the NFC East lead. Seattle on the other hand squandered a shot at the top spot in the NFC West last week, but are still 6-5 and in the second wild card spot.

Seahawks (6-5) vs. Cowboys (8-3) Week 13: How to watch

  • Date: Thursday, November 30
  • Time: 8:15 p.m. ET
  • Venue: AT&T Stadium, Dallas, Texas
  • TV: Amazon Prime

Unlike many other TNF games this year, the matchup between the Seahawks and Cowboys has serious playoff ramifications moving forward. While these two teams are separated by only two games in the standings, how they’ve gotten to this point are two completely different paths.

Other than their anomaly of a loss to the Cardinals in Week 3, Dallas has only fallen to the top two seeds in the NFC, the 49ers and Eagles. The Cowboys have a top-five offense in the league, averaging over 377 yards a game, and a top-three defense, holding opponents to less than 277 yards per game. The complimentary football displayed by the ‘Boys is a major reason why they lead the NFL in point differential at plus-162. Dallas is also one of the best at taking care of the football, with a plus-7 turnover differential, also top five in the league.

While it is perplexing to see numbers like this from a three-loss team, the main reason behind this is the difficult schedule Dallas has been tasked with. Having to face the Niners and Eagles already, there will be no rest for the weary as the Cowboys must still face the Eagles again, the Buffalo Bills, the Miami Dolphins, and the Detroit Lions. Three out of those four teams are currently in a playoff spot with the Bills only sitting half a game out.

The Seahawks, on the other hand, have had much more of a rollercoaster season.  They’ve experienced the highs of beating the Detroit Lions and the Cleveland Browns, yet have been at the hands of crushing defeats, including a 34-point loss to the Baltimore Ravens and an 18-point loss to the Niners last week.

For Seattle to stand a chance in this game, they will need their defense to step up. The Seahawks give up an average of over 22 points per game while the Cowboys average over 31 points per game. This has all the makings for another dominant Cowboys win unless Seattle can control the tempo of the game and time of possession.
