New York Islanders defenseman Adam Pelech was forced out of Tuesday night’s 7-4 loss against the St. Louis Blues at UBS Arena due to an undisclosed injury.
The veteran blue liner was driven into the boards while on a knee trying to play the puck from behind the Islanders’ net 4:05 into the third period by Blues defenseman Robert Bortuzzo, who was assessed a two-minute minor for roughing.
Pelech grabbed his head in pain after it appeared the back of it was the point of contact with the boards. He was slow to get up and needed assistance from a trainer and forward Josh Bailey to leave the ice.
Islanders head coach Lane Lambert did not have an update to provide on Pelech following the loss.
