Despite a shoulder injury scare on Tuesday, New York Giants star wide receiver Malik Nabers is practicing with the team on Thursday.
“He’s OK,” head coach Brian Daboll said. “We’ll have a plan.”
It has been a summer filled with injury concerns for the young pass-catcher, who is preparing for his second season in the NFL. He had returned to full participation at training camp after dealing with a toe issue before landing awkwardly on his left shoulder on Tuesday.
He stayed down momentarily while being checked on by trainers and would not return to practice, though initial evaluations were promising.
The LSU product is looking to build off a historic first season in the NFL in which he set a Giants franchise record with 109 receptions to go with 1,204 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.
Heading into the 2025 campaign, he is the undisputed No. 1 target for Russell Wilson, the 36-year-old former Super Bowl winner signing a one-year deal to join Big Blue in hopes of keeping his career as a starter going.
Much of that will hinge on his relationship with Nabers and the receiver’s ability to stay on the field; he missed two games last year due to a concussion. The Giants are rolling with a young, largely unproven supporting cast behind Nabers outside of Darius Slayton. Wan’Dale Robinson is projected to be the team’s No. 2 receiver with Jalin Hyatt, Zach Pascal, and Lil’Jordan Humphrey likely to compete for reps as the No. 4 option.
