While Juan Soto and Francisco Lindor heat up, Brandon Nimmo robbed a home run in the sixth inning and drove home the tiebreaking run in the seventh, as the New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 7-4 on Sunday afternoon at Citi Field.

With it, the Mets (15-7) completed a four-game sweep of their long-time National League rivals — the first time they have done so since April 24-27, 1986, and the first time they have ever pulled it off in Queens.

Lindor had three hits, including a lead-off home run, while Soto drove in three.

With New York trailing 3-1, Nimmo robbed Jordan Walker’s deep fly to left with a leaping catch at the wall to preserve his side’s lead. However, it would disappear in the top of the seventh when Thomas Saggese’s two-run double off reliever Jose Butto tied it up in the seventh.

Mets starting pitcher Clay Holmes went six innings, allowing just one run on four hits with six strikeouts and two walks.

Nimmo got the Mets right back in front in the bottom of the seventh when he delivered a two-out single up the middle.

New York plated three more in the eighth, beginning with a Tyrone Taylor RBI double that scored Luisangel Acuna from second after he doubled. Soto doubled into the left-center-field gap to score two more later in the frame.

The $765 million man drove in his first run of the day in the third inning with a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0 following Lindor’s lead-off blast into the second deck in right field off Cardinals starter Sonny Gray.

Pete Alonso made it 3-0 with an RBI single in the fifth.
