  • The last time St. John’s reached the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament in men’s basketball was 1985, led by Chris Mullin. St. John’s lost to Georgetown, led by Patrick Ewing, in the national semifinal.

  • The last time the Mets and Yankees both had 20-game winners in the same season was 1985. The Yankees’ Ron Guidry led with AL with 22 wins (22-6 with a 3.27 ERA), and Dwight Gooden led the NL with 24 wins, a 1.53 ERA, 16 complete games and 268 strikeouts. He was 24-4 overall.

  • The last time the Yankees missed the playoffs in three consecutive seasons (not involving a work stoppage) was from 1991 to 1993. Their records in those seasons were 71-91, 76-86 and 88-74. A work stoppage canceled the 1994 postseason when the Yankees had the best record in the American League at 70-43. In 1995, the Yankees earned the first wild card in AL history.

  • The last time the Rangers played the Islanders in the NHL playoffs was in 1994, with the Rangers sweeping their rival in the first round.

  • The last time a Yankee won the American League batting title, Bernie Williams hit .339 to edge Boston’s Mo Vaughn (.337) in 1998. Williams went 2-for-2 on the final day of the season. Vaughn was 2-for-4

  • The last time the Knicks won more than one playoff series in a season was in the 1999-2000 season when they swept the Toronto Raptors in the first round, then beat the Miami Heat in seven games in the Eastern Conference semifinals. The Knicks lost in six games in the conference finals to the Indiana Pacers.

  • The last time the Liberty reached the WNBA championship series was in 2002 when they lost to the Los Angeles Sparks. In the first four seasons of the league (1997-2000), the Liberty reached the championship game or series three times.

  • The last time an American won the U.S. Open tennis men's singles title was in 2003 when Andy Roddick defeated Spain's Juan Carlos Ferrero in straight sets, 6-3, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3.

  • The last time the Rangers had a 50-goal scorer was in the 2005-06 season when Jaromir Jagr scored 54. Jagr totaled 123 points, also the last time the Rangers had a player with more than 100 points in a season.

  • The last time the Mets won 90 or more games in a season was in 2006 when they went 97-65 and reached Game 7 of the NLCS before losing to St. Louis.

  • The last time the Giants had two 1,000-yard running backs in the same season was 2008 when Brandon Jacobs (1,089) and Derrick Ward (1,025) accomplished the feat. It’s the only time in franchise history it happened.

  • The last time a Nets player scored 50 or more points in a game was March 4, 2012 when Deron Williams set a franchise record with 57 points at Charlotte. He was 16-for-29 from the field (including four three-pointers) and a perfect 21-for-21 from the foul line.
