Nothing says Valentine’s Day more than heart-shaped pizza, prosecco, and love notes. Valentine’s Day arrives early at Union Square, especially at Time Out Market Union Square.
The fairly new Time Out Market in Union Square marks Time Out’s second New York location and their official Manhattan debut. The Market highlights the people and places shaping the city’s food scene and drives diversity, creativity, and togetherness.
Chef Kwame Onwuachi brings his Patty Palace, a playful take on the iconic Jamaican Patty, to the Market, alongside the bold flavors of Khao Soi at Kam Rai Thai and Brooklyn’s own Fornino Pizza (and many others). The Market gathers the world’s flavors from their New York neighborhoods under one roof.
On Jan. 28, attend the public Cupid Project party at Fornino in Union Square. Write meaningful Valentine’s Day cards for elderly residents in New York City nursing homes, and sink your teeth into a customizable, Instagram-worthy heart-shaped Fornino wood-fired pizza.
Fornino features in both Time Out New York locations—Dumbo and Union Square. Head chef and owner Michael Ayoub doesn’t take this for granted. “To be a chef, you don’t wanna make the same thing every day, so to do these specials and stuff like that is really special,” Ayoub told amNewYork.
“I sleep, I make love, or I think about pizza, and last night I was thinking about pizza,” Ayoub joked. You can really taste the love he puts into the thin-crust spicy vodka sauce and sausage pizza he handcrafts for guests.
Time Out Market Union Square offers more than just a food court; it creates a culinary experience. The Cupid Project Party is just one of many fun events. Watch for others! If you want to try the food, look out for Tacos by Fonda, Time Out Market Union Square’s latest addition, which introduces Mexican cuisine on Jan. 23.
