ADAPT leadership awards gala raises $650,000 for disability services in New York City

The ADAPT Leadership Awards Gala, was held on Wednesday, March 13th at the iconic Cipriani 42nd Street. Raising an impressive $650,000 in support of the ADAPT Community Network‘s critical work for individuals with disabilities. This event brought together a constellation of stars, philanthropists, and leaders all united for a noble cause.

This year’s gala was graced by esteemed honorees who have made significant contributions to the community and their respective fields. Craig Melvin, the familiar face from NBC News’ “TODAY,” and Lindsay Czarniak, the Emmy-winning sports anchor and reporter, were among the luminaries recognized for their leadership and efforts. Jon Ledecky, the co-owner of the NHL’s New York Islanders, also received the prestigious ADAPT Leadership Award, highlighting the diverse impact of the honorees across various sectors.

A special moment of the evening was the presentation of the Hausman Humanitarian Award to Michael Dowling, President & Chief Executive Officer of Northwell Health, for his extraordinary humanitarian efforts and commitment to bettering the lives of others.

The gala was hosted by Abigail Hawk, star of the CBS series “Blue Bloods,” who returned to lead the festivities with grace and charm. Willie Geist, a previous ADAPT Leadership Award honoree, had the honor of presenting awards to his NBC News colleague Craig Melvin and Lindsay Czarniak, while James Hausman and John D. Kemp presented the awards to Jon Ledecky and Michael J. Dowling, respectively.

The evening commenced with heartfelt opening remarks from Honorary Gala Co-Chair Mike Woods and ADAPT Celebrity Ambassador Teresa Priolo, setting the tone for a night of celebration and support. Susan Lucci, another Honorary Gala Co-Chair, introduced an enlightening video about ADAPT, further showcasing the impactful work being done by the organization.

The gala not only celebrated the achievements of its honorees but also served as a testament to the continuous efforts of the ADAPT Community Network, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving people with disabilities.

ADAPT is at the forefront of providing innovative programs and services, from education and technology to health and recreational programs, across all five boroughs.

The event was supported by a distinguished group of Gala Event Co-Chairs, including Liz Cohen Hausman, James Hausman, and Thomas Skrobe, and attended by an array of VIPs, board members, and ADAPT supporters.
