Amy Schumer appears on Vogue’s July cover, says she and boyfriend Ben Hanisch are in love

Rockville Centre-reared comedy star Amy Schumer says she and her boyfriend of several months, Chicago furniture designer Ben Hanisch, are enjoying a promising romance.

“We’re in love,” Schumer says in a cover-story interview in the new issue of Vogue. “And we’re still in total honeymoon phase. It’s a real relationship. Who knows what will happen, but we’re real good right now.”

The 35-year-old star of the comedy hit “Trainwreck” and Comedy Central’s sketch show “Inside Amy Schumer,” whose past boyfriends have included comedian Anthony Jeselnik and WWE pro-wrestling star Dolph Ziggler, told the magazine that, “I was always boy crazy, but I wasn’t promiscuous.” Describing most of her close friends as Catholic-school girls with bad reputations, Schumer remembered, “They were acting out sexually years before me. I loved being around that, but I didn’t have sex until I was seventeen.”

She explained that, “I grew up comedy crazy. And none of my girlfriends were, so I gravitated toward certain boys. We all loved the Jerky Boys and making prank phone calls and ‘SNL’. It was the same thing with hip-hop. I loved rap because of the economy of language and those fast insults, playing off each other.”

When at Towson University however, “I lost all my self-esteem freshman year,” she said. “I think I was maybe in the twenty-fifth percentile in hotness” in a school regularly ranked in listings of colleges with attractive students. “And then in my sophomore year, I probably had sex with six guys, and I was like, maybe I’m like Samantha in ‘Sex and the City’ and I’ll just keep this train movin’ so that I don’t get attached to anybody.”
