“Broad City” fans piled into the Tribeca Film Festival Sunday to get a sneak peek screening of the series’ upcoming season finale, followed by a cast Q&A with Kelly Ripa.
We caught up with kweens Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson on the red carpet before the event, and also chatted with co-star and co-writer Paul W. Downs and writer/producer Lucia Aniello. Here are some of the things they told us.
Favorite neighborhood to film in?
Abbi: “Central Park”
Ilana: “Fort Greene was so delightful.”
Lucia: “I do like when we shoot in Williamsburg … and go shopping after we’re done.”
Dream guest star?
Lucia: “Anna Wintour.”
Paul: “Julia Louis-Dreyfus or Larry David.”
Abbi and Ilana said they don’t think of guest stars ahead of time, but ideas come to them during writing.
If Bingo Bronson came to life, who would play him?
Abbi: “A cross between Paul W. Downs (Trey) and John Gemberling (Bevers). I feel like that’s the embodiment in my mind of who Bingo is.”
Ilana: “I was thinking more like a giant dude, and then Paul [who voices Bingo] sits on his shoulders. Or if Paul became a giant and his voice got higher.”
Lucia: “I’d say maybe Jeff Goldblum — he feels like a good Bingo Bronson. Or Jack White. I think there’s a lot of crossover there.”
Will Abbi ever change her mind about Ilana’s unrequited love on the show?
Don’t hold your breath if you’re hoping for an Abbi/Ilana hookup. “It’s just a type of friendship or aspect of friendship that we’re showing rather than an arc that we build,” Ilana said.
Favorite pizza topping?
Abbi: “I don’t usually do toppings … I like Margherita, though I do like a pepperoni every once in a while.”
Ilana: “Pepperoni. I like meat. Maybe meatball … I love pizza.”
Paul: “Pepperoni.”
The team plans to start writing “Broad City’s” fourth season two weeks from now, Lucia says, so no spoilers are even in existence yet.
