Sherri Shepherd denied appeal in surrogacy case

Actress-comedian Sherri Shepherd has lost her appeal of a Pennsylvania court ruling last year that designated her the mother of 18-month-old Lamar Sally Jr. The child was born via surrogate after Shepherd and husband Lamar Sally separated.

Tuesday’s decision by the court not to hear the case affirmed that Shepherd remains responsible for child support, currently at $4,100 per month. Shepherd’s attorney said he was surprised the court would not review the issue.

Shepherd, who had attempted to void the surrogacy contract as she and Sally were divorcing, already has a son, Jeffrey, 10, with first husband Jeff Tarpley.
