Father’s Day this year falls on June 21, which is my father’s birthday. Chris Pratt apparently has the same issue, something he called “pretty great,” according to Just Jared . Well that’s nice for him, but it’s actually the worst. Even if my father’s birthday doesn’t fall exactly on Father’s Day, we usually celebrate them together due to scheduling, which is twice the pressure! My father’s number-one request is no back talk, which means it’s a full day of biting your tongue–which he enjoys far, far too much.
My family and I all live in NYC, so there’s a wealth of possibilities–which is also not a good thing. Think of the pressure! Especially because my dad is the cheerful type of dad who says things like “as long as I get to see my daughters, I’m happy.” You probably think that sounds nice, but it does not making planning any easier. Last year my sister nailed it by coming up with the idea of going to Yankee Stadium, which was a lot of fun for all five of us. It might become a new tradition, if we can coordinate with the Yankees, that is! — Caroline Linton, amny.com news editor
