LifestylePets NYC dogs and cats to adopt from ASPCA this season By Melissa Kravitz email@example.com Updated December 18, 2015 11:55 AM Print Share fbShare Tweet Email It's the most wonderfluffy time of the year! The ASPCA wants you to bring a furry friend home for the holidays. And after seeing some of these adorable faces, you'll want to bring one home, too. With more than 100 cats and dogs in need of a home currently in its shelter, the ASPCA is reducing adoption fees by 50 percent. That means two new pets for the price of one through the end of the year. Fall in love with these adoptable pets, all ready to be yours in NYC. Jazz Photo Credit: ASPCA "Jazz is a 6-year-old Mastiff/Plott Hound mix who just loves everyone she meets. She's a huge lapdog and would like nothing more than to have her ears scratched and be pet all day. This beautiful girl has plenty of energy, so she does need daily exercise to keep her happy. She's super playful and a big love bug. Jazz would do best in a home with some dog experience and kids older than 10." She's full of personality and enjoys making everyone laugh when she rolls around on her back. She's happy to go for a long walk, or settle in right beside you on the couch. More than beauty - this pup has brains! She knows sit, down, roll over and drop it. Tahini would do well in a home with some prior dog experience and kids older than 10." She loves to romp around in the grass and play outside. She is still slow to warm up to strangers, but once she trusts you she will love you forever. The loud sounds of the city make her nervous, so she would really thrive in a home outside of the bustling city. She's currently living in a foster home, so you have to ask for her by name!" He's a distinguished gentleman, a lovely walking companion and content to lounge on the couch with you after a rousing bout of playtime. He knows how to sit on command and is eager to learn more tricks. His gray muzzle adds a level of sophistication to his handsome face, don't you think? He would do best in an experienced home with kids older than 8." See more at aspca.org Ginger Photo Credit: ASPCA "Ginger is a 1-year-old Staffordshire terrier mix. She has lots of energy to burn and would be happy to go on long runs in the park, exploring and taking in the sights. She is super affectionate with those in her inner circle, but can be slow to show her true colors. Ginger would be happiest in an adults only home." She's a sensitive soul, but once she's comfortable you'll see she's a sweet cat who loves nothing more than playtime with her besties. She would do best in an experienced home, and would prefer to be the only feline in your family." He is happiest when spending quiet time with his favorite people, enjoying gentle petting and chin scratches. Not the biggest fan of being held, he prefers to keep all four paws on the ground, thank you very much. He loves cat nip and cardboard scratching posts, but is a scaredy-cat around vacuum cleaners. Rocket should go to a home with kids older than 14." See more at aspca.org Sebastian Photo Credit: ASPCA "Sebastian is a 7-year-old friendly cat who is a big fan of attention. He is slow to accept new people into his circle of friends, but once he extends that invitation, he is a big sweetheart. He would do best in a quiet home with an experienced cat adopter." See more at aspca.org Natalia Photo Credit: ASPCA "Natalia is a real snuggle bug, loving leisurely lounging in your lap. At a sprightly 10 years old, she's a social butterfly and is quick to make friends. She prefers soft food, as all of her teeth fell out. This isn't cause for future concern, she does just fine without them! She can go to a home with plenty of warm laps, no other cats and kids over the age of 10." See more at aspca.org Spots Photo Credit: ASPCA "Spots is a delicate 14-year-old cat, preferring quiet and gentle attention. He will move at his own pace when getting to know you and hopes that you'll respect his process. When Spots decides you're a friend, he's not shy about asking for attention. Some evening exercise will keep him out of trouble, and a home with older teens who have experience with cats would be best."
