Throwing away your middle school wardrobe was a mistake

Tossing out your Limited Too peasant blouses was a huge mistake.

If you were a trendy teenager in the early 2000s, you probably dressed similarly to how New York's most fashionable will be strutting the streets this season.

It may be too late to reclaim your middle school wardrobe, but they say that fashion is a cycle, and this season's in vogue, bohemian-inspired pieces prove it.

Here are a few items you should have kept tucked away in your closet, because you'll want to be wearing them come September.

Flared Jeans

We're not saying skinny jeans are officially out, but if you don't have a pair for flared or bell bottom jeans this fall you may as well crawl back into your closet. Boot cuts can still be tucked away but this season is all about the big flare. If you need a replacement pair, check out these high-rise flared jeans by Polo Ralph Lauren for $125. They recommend pairing the pants with a boho blouse.

Before you cringe, know that Glamour featured the long denim skirt as a staple item in its September 2015 issue and we're not going to argue. The pictured denim skirt cost $98 at J. Crew but is currently sold out, if that is any indication of how popular these will be in the coming months. You can also pair it with a boho blouse.

Formerly known as peasant shirts, these floral-printed, loosefitting tops were all over fall runways. Limited Too is still on hiatus but you can find this trendy top for $198 (pre-order) at Rebecca Minkoff. But really, you can't escape the boho blouse at H&M, Forever 21 and other retailers that very much want you to be on-trend.

Perhaps designers were expecting several polar vortexes when designing this season's collections because turtlenecks are another must-have piece for fall 2015. Before you crawl back into your shell, check out this $58 basic turtleneck at Splendid. If you're not ready to go full turtle, the $80 mock neck from Everlane is a good bet.

Fall 2015 is going to be fierce! And yes, that means plenty of leopard-printed jackets, shoes, sweaters and pretty much anything else made of fabric. Think Lisa Frank grows up and slip into this Rebecca Taylor leopard faux fur coat, $695.

Headbands and Clips

UGH. You threw away all those glittery butterfly clips about a decade ago. Good for you! But like bonnets, fancy headgear is back in style. Anna Sui featured elaborate headdresses on her FW2015 runway but we encourage you to town it down just a bit. Get dressed up with this Eugenia Kim Wild Rose Cocktail Headband, $215, or head to your local drugstore to accessorize.

Glitter Flats

There was plenty of glitter on FW15 runways! While we can't 100% get behind the glitter flats trend, we spotted Venus Williams wearing a pair of gold glitter flats at the Taste of Tennis Gala and we're going to cite her as a style icon for this one. Tory Burch's flats aren't available yet in glitter this season --- don't underestimate the power of DIY! --- but the iconic Salvatore Ferragamo ballet flats come in black or gold glitter, for $525. You could also pick up a pair of similarly shiny shoes at DSW.
