P.S. 42 Principal Rosa Casiello O’Day was named Virtual Y Principal of the Year on Oct. 29. O’Day was “very thrilled, humbled and happy” to be honored, but the highlight of the night may have been the venue of the ceremony: the rainbow room of 30 Rockefeller Plaza, with a view that O’Day and her son had long wanted to see.
“I promised my little boy I would take him there,” O’Day said.
Virtual Y runs an after-school program for 50 P.S. 42 students, a partnership the principal appreciates because “a school can’t do everything,” she said. “We need to work with community-based organizations…to develop children in their entirety.”
