Alphabet City shooting at public housing complex leaves man injured

An Alphabet City shooting outside a public housing complex early on Friday morning left a man injured, police reported.

Law enforcement sources said the twenty-something man was shot at about 12:25 a.m. on March 3 outside of 20 Avenue D, within the Lillian Wald Houses campus.

NYPD sources reported that the victim received a gunshot wound to the leg during the attack. He was rushed to Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Police cordoned off the courtyard of Lillian Wald Houses while detectives investigated the scene. Some 13 shell casings were recovered, police sources said.

No arrests have been made, thus far, in the ongoing investigation, authorities reported.
