Assemblymember Deborah Glick, left, joined protestors Tuesday outside City Hall restaurant to demonstrate against the planned eviction of artist-tenants living above the 131-135 Duane St. eatery. Henry Meer, owner of the restaurant, and his partners, Martin and Audrey Gruss, are planning interior construction work that they say amounts to demolition, thus giving them the right to evict the loft tenants. The tenants say the interior work is not a demolition, evidenced by the fact that the restaurant will remain open during construction. The tenants came out early to protest a power breakfast reportedly organized by political consultant Suri Kasirer.
