Last Friday evening firefighters responded in force to 632 Hudson St. between Horatio and Jane Sts. after a raging fire broke out atop the building. Tim Heaton, a Fire Department spokesperson, said the blaze was called in at 5:30 p.m. and was an “all-hands fire,” to which 12 trucks and 60 firefighters responded. Heaton said the flames, which began in the roof decking under a gazebo, were brought under control by 6:09 p.m. He said fire marshals are still investigating the cause but that it is not deemed suspicious. The rooftop is used as an event space.
