Police arrested a man who they say fatally shot a Brooklyn McDonald’s employee earlier this week.
NYPD Commissioner Keechant Sewell announced on Twitter that Michael Morgan, 20, was arrested in connection to the Aug. 1 shooting.
According to authorities, at just after 7 p.m. that evening, Morgan’s mother allegedly got into a dispute with an employee, 23-year-old Matthew Webb, at McDonald’s, located at 1531 Fulton St. in Bedford-Stuyvesant, over her food. Morgan’s mother allegedly told him about the argument and he intervened and allegedly got into an argument with Webb.
The fight ultimately ended up outside, where Morgan allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Webb in the neck.
Paramedics rushed Webb to Brookdale University Hospital in critical condition. Webb ultimately died of his injuries on Aug. 3, and his death was ruled a homicide.
Morgan was initially taken in for questioning on Aug. 2 and was later charged with attempted murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. At this time, it is not clear if his charges have been upgraded since Webb’s death.
Police also arrested 18-year-old Camellia Dunlap on Aug. 3 for allegedly harboring the gun used in the shooting. Dunlap was charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
Morgan was also charged on Wednesday in connection to the murder of 28-year-old Kevin Holloman, who was fatally shot in Brooklyn on Oct. 21, 2020. Holloman was shot multiple times in front of 761 Herkimer Street in Bedford Stuyvesant at 9:36 p.m. that night, and was pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital.
