D’oh! Stained-glass Simpsons

Inside Think Coffee, at 324 Bowery, the stained-glass art of Joseph Cavalieri is on display, specifically, “The Missing Episode Series,” featuring characters from “The Simpsons,” celebrating the TV show’s 20th anniversary. Cavalieri, 49, grew up outside the city and now lives and works in the East Village. With “The Simpsons” series, he said, “I wanted to show the decline of American culture. I didn’t want to use Uncle Sam or Ronald McDonald, so I used Bart and Lisa on a cross. That piece is not in the show. One of ‘The Simpsons’ writers bought it, so it’s hanging in L.A.” In “The Maid,” by Cavalieri, below left, Mr. Burns kidnaps the crippled Homer, kills Marge and takes her place as beauty queen. Each 2-foot-by-3-foot Simpsons piece takes three weeks to make.
