Jeffrey Sparks, left, spoke at a memorial service last Thursday at Angel Orensanz Foundation on Norfolk St. for his fiancé, Nicole duFresne, who was shot to death on the morning of Jan. 27 during a mugging, after the couple and two friends had left Max Fish bar on Ludlow St. From the former synagogue, the 75 participants, most of whom reportedly did not appear to be from the Lower East Side, then marched with fire and drumming to Clinton St. between Rivington and Delancey Sts., where duFresne was killed. There, during a ceremony presided over by a South American shaman, right, Sparks lit a bouquet of flowers soaked in wine, using it to ignite a rope on the ground outlining the shape of a human figure representing duFresne.
