North Cove pirates
Police arrested Emilio Rivas, 18, and a 15-year-old accomplice around 3:30 a.m. Fri., June 26, in the E train subway station on Church St. and charged them with having stolen seven bottles of champagne, two fishing poles and several flares from a sailboat in the North Cove of Battery Park City. Police said the two suspects had fled with their loot into the subway station, where Rivas lit one of the flares and tossed it onto the tracks.
Tribeca burglar
A woman who lives on Worth St. near Broadway told police that someone entered her building sometime before 8:30 p.m. Wed., June 17, and made off with a laptop computer, a gold necklace and a jewelry box.
Hit-run on Canal St.
The driver of a black Honda going east on Canal St. sped through the intersection at Broadway, where he struck a Lincoln Town Car, sending it into the crosswalk, where it hit a woman at the southwest corner of the intersection at 5:30 p.m. Thurs., June 25. The victim was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital in stable condition.
The driver of the Honda did not stop and turned down Broadway, but got stuck in traffic that was backed up at Walker St. Witnesses to the collision caught up with the driver, pulled him from the car and held him for police. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Bartender beans her
A female bartender at Winnie’s, 104 Bayard St., got into an argument with a woman patron from New Jersey around 11 p.m. Sun., June 14, and hit the woman in the head with a bottle, police said. The victim was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital with cuts to her face.
