Above left, Max Hirsch, 6, left, and Donyea Hinson, 7, enjoyed splashing around in the Washington Sq. Park fountain on Monday. Hirsch is a first grader at NEST+M, an elite, three-year-old, public school on Columbia St., and is excited about going on class trips and catching up with friends. Hinson, a second grader, is looking forward to going back to school, because “it’s more fun there.” Above right, Agatha Scaggiante, 5 1/2, is entering first grade at NEST. She’s very eager to return to school and can’t wait to find out who her teacher is and which friends are in her class. When she grows up she wants to be a writer. Below left, Nora Engelman, 11, is entering seventh grade at LREI. What’s she looking forward to about going back to school? “Really nothing, actually,” she said, noting she’s especially not excited about studying. Below right, Audrey Engelman, 9, is a fourth grader at Friends Seminary. She said wants to see her friends again and go to science class.
