The Downtown Alliance is launching a new monthly lecture series, Downtown Third Thursdays, next week.
Held in various Lower Manhattan historic buildings, including the Equitable Building at 120 Broadway, the Standard Oil Building and Trinity Church. Speakers will include prominent authors and historians discussing topics ranging from the 9/11 rebuilding process to Downtown skyscrapers to 200 ticker tape parades.
New Yorker architecture critic, Paul Goldberger, a Pulitzer Prize-winning writer and Dean of Parsons School of Design, will kick off the series next Thursday at the Cass Gilbert-designed Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House at One Bowling Green.
The Collector’s Office, which includes oak paneling carved by Tiffany Studios, a coffered gilded ceiling, and seaport paintings by Elmer E. Garnsey, will be open to the public before Goldbgerg’s lecture, “After Ground Zero: The Struggle to Make Cities for Our Time.”
